Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi today. The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, and Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov. The Iranian delegation, in addition to Araghchi, included his deputy, Kazem Gharib-Abadi, and Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali.
During the meeting, Putin said that Russia is ready to do everything that serves Iran's interests in the context of the conflict in the Middle East.
"For our part, we will do everything that serves your interests, the interests of all the peoples of the region, to ensure that this peace is achieved as soon as possible," Putin said.
Russian media added that Putin received a message from Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, wishing the head of the Islamic Republic health and prosperity.
"We sincerely hope that, relying on this courage and desire for independence, the Iranian people, under the leadership of a new leader, will overcome this difficult period of trials and peace will come ," Putin added.
On the other hand, Araghchi thanked Moscow for its support for Tehran. He praised the relations between the two countries and noted that they will continue to strengthen. The diplomat added that Iran will continue to fight the United States.
"The whole world has proven that the Iranian people, through their resistance and courage, were able to withstand American attacks, American aggression, and will be able to endure and survive this period of time," Araghchi explained.
Before the talks began, the minister stated that he planned to discuss with Russia the coordination of efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East.
