In recent days, there has been increasing speculation that Europe could sit at the negotiating table between Ukraine and Russia, at a time when US-brokered negotiations have stalled.
Finnish President Alexander Stubbs could represent Europe in peace talks on Ukraine if asked, he told Finnish newspaper Ille on May 24, as reported by the Kyiv Independent.
"If you're asked if you're going to represent Europe, it's probably something you can't answer negatively," Stubb said in an interview.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha told Politico in an interview published on May 11 that Ukraine has asked Europe for help in the negotiation process for a ceasefire that would apply at airports.
"Maybe we need a new role for Europe in peace efforts ," Sibiha said on the sidelines of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
