Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said the United States appears to lack a clear strategy in the conflict with Iran, joining a growing wave of criticism from European leaders.
In an interview with Swedish Radio News, Kristersson stressed that it remains unclear how Washington intends to achieve its objective of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. “ At present, I find it difficult to see a clear strategy behind this approach ,” he said.
His statements come at a time when German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also previously criticized the US for lacking an "exit strategy" from the conflict, arguing that Washington has been "put in a difficult position" during negotiations with Tehran.
For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a more consistent and coordinated approach to the crisis, emphasizing the need for a more serious strategy in confronting Iran.
These positions reflect a growing concern in Europe about the direction and effectiveness of American policy in the Middle East, at a time when tensions with Iran remain high.
