Advisor to Iran's supreme leader, Mohammad Mohber, said today that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz represents an opportunity as valuable as the atomic bomb.
He stressed that having such a case in hand, which affects the global economy, is a great opportunity. He also referred to the possibility of changing the legal status of the Straits based on international law.
"For years, we have overlooked the advantage of the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is an opportunity as valuable as the atomic bomb. Having in our hands a location that allows us to influence the global economy with a single decision is a great opportunity, and under no circumstances will the gains of this war be lost ," said Mohammad Mohber, an adviser to Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's new supreme leader, in a video published by the Mehr news agency.
Clashes erupted again today in Hormuz between Iran and the US, as Washington is still awaiting Tehran's response to its latest proposal for a final end to hostilities.
Earlier in the afternoon, the Tasnim news agency, citing a military source, reported that there was now "calm" in the Persian Gulf, but if the Americans attempt to re-enter or cause problems for Iranian ships, there is a "possibility" that clashes could resume.
