"VIP escorts in prisons", this has been the most discussed topic in the last week after special meetings of crime bosses in cells and detention.
It was an unusual "visit" to the Drenova prison that has brought attention back to the way special meetings function in Albanian prisons.
The name of the life-sentenced prisoner, Laert Haxhiu, was linked a few days ago to a visit by a well-known model from Kosovo, Ziza Pajaziti, who held a meeting in a private room with the convict.
But how often are these special meetings allowed and do they also function in women's prisons?
Former director of the Women's Prison, Xhoi Jakaj, has revealed why these meetings were canceled at the women's prison.
" There were special meetings in the women's prison, but a tragedy occurred. During the extended meeting, the husband killed his wife because there was a long-wired air freshener inside the special room."
"Generally, the cable is installed, but it was not. After this event, no more special meetings were held in the women's prison. Now that they have been transferred to Pogradec, they have the conditions and can be returned ," she said on "Top Channel".
