"They treated us like slaves", Baki Goxhaj returns to Albania after
Albanian activist Baki Goxhaj

Albanian activist Baki Goxhaj has arrived in Albania after being deported by Israeli authorities while he was part of the "Sumud" humanitarian flotilla, which aimed to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip. At Rinas airport, he was welcomed by his family and children.

After arriving in the country, Goxhaj stayed for about two hours at the Rinas police station, where he was questioned by Albanian authorities.

"I am from Vlora and in recent years I have been engaged as an activist for the Palestinian issue, to end the genocide and to resolve this issue that has been going on for 80 years as an open wound in the modern world. The organization that deals with organizing the flotilla is online and has opened applications to become part of the flotilla. I too, after being informed, followed the procedures to become part of it.

About 10 days ago we set off. We were in international waters when we saw several large ships and two powerful speedboats approaching. Despite our efforts to get away, it was not possible. As they approached, they threatened us and fired at us; I don't know if they were real bullets.

They boarded the ship, tied all of our hands; they also blindfolded me, because I was a little loud asking to be released. They dragged us and took us to a large ship made of containers, where we stayed for 2 days and 2 nights like cattle. On the ship we only had water to drink and dry bread.

"I was there and I saw it with my own eyes; I heard a Palestinian girl not far from me who was then raped. I saw the whole scene," Goxhaj said.
