I put her on a stretcher, because there were metal parts and bricks falling from heights, and I was forced to put her on because the resident is not specialized in getting down from the ladder ," Jonus Murataj, the chief of the fire service, told TCH.
The firefighting team was able to isolate the flames in part of the complex, as if they had not intervened in time, the fire would have taken on other dimensions and the damages would have been several times greater.
"We have cordoned off the area to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts. It was at the same time that the residents were evacuated and the fire was extinguished ," he said.
The firefighting team remained on the scene throughout the night and into Wednesday, as small fires were occasionally activated.
