Arrest of Albanian activist in Israel, Foreign Ministry provides details: We are

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has provided new information on the fate of Albanian activist Baki Goxhaj, detained on the Sumud flotilla. The MFA stated that Goxhaj is currently in Israel and that the Albanian Embassy in Tel Aviv will have the opportunity to meet with the activist soon.

The MEPJ also stated that the Albanian embassy is working to enable the activist's return to Albania as soon as possible.

"The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs continues to follow with attention and priority the situation regarding the Albanian citizen, Mr. Baki Goxhaj, participant in the "Sumud" flotilla, detained by the Israeli authorities along with all the other participants. According to official information, he has been transferred to Israel.

"The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Tel Aviv is in constant contact with the Israeli authorities and will soon hold a meeting with Mr. Goxhaj, to provide him with the necessary consular assistance and, in this context, to enable the Albanian citizen's swift and safe return to his homeland," the reaction states.

We recall that a few days ago, the Israeli navy intervened against the "Global Sumud Flotilla" humanitarian flotilla, stopping one after another the 54 ships that had departed from Turkey towards Gaza with humanitarian aid.

The released footage shows the moment when Israeli soldiers in Zodiac boats approach the ships, while the activists appear wearing life jackets and raising their hands. All communication is then cut off and for some of the people on board there is no longer any public information on their location or condition.

The situation worsened further after the Italian flotilla's spokeswoman, Maria Elena Delia, stated that the Israeli navy had opened fire on some of the ships.

According to Italian authorities, at least 27 Italian citizens have been detained and the ships have been escorted to the Israeli port of Ashdod. Meanwhile, several European countries, including Italy, Spain, Ireland and Turkey, have requested information and the release of their citizens.

Meanwhile, the situation escalated further when Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, released a shocking video in which he appears mocking Gaza flotilla activists, who were stopped at sea and taken to the port of Ashdod.

In the footage, dozens of international activists are seen kneeling on the ground, their hands tied. The video begins with one of them shouting "Free Palestine " before police officers drag him away from the minister during his visit to the facility.

Ben-Gvir is shown raising a large Israeli flag and saying in Hebrew: "Welcome to Israel, we are the gods here."

He also addresses Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "I say to the Prime Minister: hand them over to us for a long time, to put them in terrorist prisons."

This prompted a reaction from several European countries, led by Italy. Meloni described the behavior as “unacceptable,” adding that Italy would work for the immediate release of the 29 citizens currently in Israel. Tajani added that the footage was contrary to any fundamental protection of human dignity.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu distanced himself from Ben-Gvir's video on Wednesday, saying his actions were not in line with Israel's values and norms.
