The Special Court held its next hearing on Tuesday against the mayor of Vau i Dejës, Kristian Shkreli, accused by SPAK of active corruption in the elections. But the evidence given in the courtroom appears to have refuted the Special Prosecution's claims.
As in the previous session, this time SPAK continued questioning witnesses, who essentially denied that the investment in the electricity line in the village of Stajka was made in exchange for votes.
The first to testify was the headman of the village of Stajkë, Frano Dajani, who stated that the electricity problem in the area had existed for years and had been raised repeatedly in meetings.
" I am a resident of the village of Stajkë and the headman of the area. There have been problems with energy there for a long time. There were wooden poles and the situation was problematic. We have discussed this issue several times. I am not aware that the investment was made for elections or votes ," he declared before the black platoons.
Another piece of evidence that seems to have weakened SPAK's accusation was that of Marsel Gjonaj, a specialist in the legal sector of the Vau i Dejës Municipality, who said that the investment was carried out by OSHEE and not by the municipality or by political order.
" I know that the works were done by OSHEE in the village of Stajka. Kristian Shkreli did not call me and did not ask me for any help with the garbage truck ," he said.
Gjergj Gjonaj, the person who had made the truck with the basket available to the electricians, also testified along the same lines.
" Frrok Marku called me and asked me for help with the work. I only worked for a few hours. I have not spoken to Kristian Shkreli nor have I met him ," he declared in the courtroom.
The evidence provided this Tuesday seems to have created a different picture than that claimed by SPAK, while the mayor's defense is insisting that this is a necessary investment for residents and not an electoral favor.
