United States President Donald Trump has again attacked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Commenting on his latest post on the social network Truth, Trump accused Meloni of an unfair attitude towards the United States and its role in protecting allies.
"As you know, we are being treated very badly, including by your Prime Minister, who has behaved very badly towards those who have spent thousands, billions of dollars to defend Italy. When we asked for just a token of gratitude, they said no. I'm talking about NATO in general, not just your country. However, she has been among the worst," Trump declared.
Asked during an interview with Tgcom24 whether he was considering the possibility of the US withdrawing from NATO, the US president avoided a direct answer.
"I don't want to tell you," he replied curtly.

In an interview with the American television network NBC, Trump was critical of Meloni, stating that he was disappointed with her stance on the Strait of Hormuz issue.
"Meloni supported me fanatically, but I don't even like her as a fan, because neither she nor NATO stood by me when the issue of the Strait of Hormuz arose," said the American president.
Earlier, Trump had told Italian media outlet La7 that the Italian prime minister had begged him to take a photo together during the G7 summit, adding that he "felt sorry for her."
The US president's statements brought an immediate reaction from Giorgia Meloni, who, through a video published on the social network X, described Trump's claims as "a pure invention."
"Donald Trump's statements are a pure fabrication. I am honestly surprised. I don't know why the president of the United States behaves in this way towards his allies," said Meloni.
The Italian Prime Minister added that it is disappointing that Trump shows more tolerance towards the West's opponents than towards traditional US allies.
"There's something you should remember, neither I nor Italy ever beg anyone ," she declared.
