US President Donald Trump has warned he will delay attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure by 10 days, until April 6, in order for Iran to make a deal to end the war. In a post on social media, he continues to claim that talks with Iran on a peace deal are going "very well," but Tehran rejected the US proposal as unfair.

"At the request of the Iranian Government, please allow this statement to serve as a representation that I am suspending the period of destruction of the nuclear power plant by 10 days until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Negotiations are ongoing and, despite false statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media and others, they are going very well,"  Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

In a statement to Fox News, Trump said: “I gave them a 10-day period, they asked for seven.” He also went on to declare victory in the war, adding: “In a way, we have already won.”

Iran has stated that it is not engaged in talks with Washington, and Trump has not identified with whom the US is negotiating in Iran, with many senior officials killed in the war.

Meanwhile, an unidentified senior Iranian leader told Reuters news agency that officials in Tehran had received a peace proposal from the US, which the official described as "one-sided and unfair."

Iran has said it will retaliate with attacks on energy facilities in the Gulf region if Trump carries out his threat.

A day earlier, the US president suggested that Iran had allowed ten oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as a gesture of goodwill in negotiations, including several Pakistani-flagged ships.

"Should Iran be able to put a tariff on ships in Hormuz? You know, I mean, they shouldn't be able to, but they are doing it, more or less. I don't know. Look, their capability is much less than it was two weeks ago. And with every week and every day, frankly, it gets less and less. The only thing I can tell you is that they're going to make a deal. So let's see what happens. We don't want anything to get in the way. We want the ships to go through. We don't know if they laid any mines, by the way, because we blew up all the minelayers, right? We blow them all up. They're going to have to get them out on a boat or something. I don't know how the hell they get them out there, but we really don't know. You can talk to him (US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth). We don't know. There might be some of them there. But this "It's a lot," Trump said.
