The Kosovo national team will face Turkey in the final play-off match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ahead of this crucial match, Kosovo striker Vedat Muriqi gave an exclusive interview to Turkish media.
The Kosovo striker gave an interview to Haber Sport, emphasizing the team's character and fighting spirit.
Muriqi pointed out that, despite the fact that the "Dardans" were twice at a disadvantage, the team did not give up at any moment, proving the strength of a young group that is growing rapidly and gaining confidence through team play.
At the same time, Muriqi also spoke about the upcoming match against Turkey, an opponent that has a special personal meaning for him. Recalling his years in Turkish football, he admitted that this match will be full of emotions, but also very difficult in terms of sport, as he described Turkey as the favorite, without hiding, however, the belief that Kosovo can surprise through its collective play.
"Slovakia was a very organized team. They had not conceded a goal in the last four games against us. One of our strongest weapons was our ability to play good team football. Even after we were losing 1-0, we never gave up. We are a very young team and we fight hard. We have young and important players," Muriqi initially told Haber Sport.
According to Muriqi, Truqia is a difficult opponent because there are big names on the team.
'I had the honor of playing against some of these players, as an opponent and even in the same team with some of them. So I'm really experiencing wonderful and interesting feelings. But considering that Turkey hasn't qualified for the World Cup for 24 years, I think it will be a very difficult and competitive match....
"Without a doubt, Turkey is the favorite. Our advantage is that we will play at home. We have Kenan, we have Arda; These are great assets for Turkish football, for European football and for world football. We want to do our best, do what we know best, play team football and achieve our goal, " the Kosovo striker said.
