Are champions born or made? Messi answers the most controversial question in the

The Argentine star spoke about his divine gift, sacrifices, the World Cup in Qatar and his new life in the United States, where he was honored with the "key" to the city.

“God gave me a gift, he chose me .” These were the words – among others – of Lionel Messi, during the American Business Forum held in Miami, where he shared his view on the origin of his extraordinary talent in football and his plans for the future. The event, which was attended – among others – by Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino, featured the Argentine star as its most distinguished guest, as reported in a publication on the website of the newspaper “El Espanol”.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez presented the captain of the Argentine national team with the key to the city, an honor that underscores the cultural and sporting influence that the Rosario native has had on the American metropolis.

At the heart of his speech, Messi addressed a fundamental question: are champions born or made? “God gave me a gift, he chose me,” said the famous Argentine, but the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was quick to clarify that natural talent is only the starting point. According to him, he knew about this special ability from a young age, but the path to the top required great sacrifices and constant efforts to perfect this divine gift.

Messi stressed that, although many people in the world possess extraordinary natural talent in sports, achieving professional recognition requires significant sacrifices that not everyone is willing to make. The Qatar 2022 World Cup was part of the discussion. Lionel Messi tried to describe the emotions he experienced after winning the title he had sought throughout his career, admitting the difficulty of expressing this experience in words. The Inter Miami star even compared these feelings to the birth of his three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro:

" In a way, although not exactly the same, I had the same feeling as when my children were born. A feeling that only someone who experiences it can truly explain. It is so great that words are few". The Argentine striker of Inter Miami has revealed his growing interest in the world of business, knowing that his sporting career has an expiration date. "I have always been 100% dedicated to football, but I know that something else is coming, another world, and little by little I am getting involved ", he confessed.

He already has investments in various businesses, including his stake in Inter Miami, a hotel chain and a drinks brand. Regarding his experience in the United States, Messi expressed his satisfaction with life in Miami: “ Since I arrived in Miami, it has been spectacular. Life in this city is incredible, and then the love from everyone since day one has been wonderful, so I am very grateful .”

A period that contrasts with his time in Paris and PSG, where he admitted he didn't feel comfortable or fully enjoy himself. In Miami, he said, he has found a balance that allows him to spend more time with his family and support his children in their sporting activities.
