It was a scary night in Chioggia, near Venice, where on Monday evening a 30-year-old German tourist was stabbed several times while walking her dog.
The woman was on holiday with her partner and young son when she was violently attacked from behind by a helmet-wearing man, who has reportedly been identified by police. Her screams alerted passersby, who immediately rushed to her aid.
Among the first to approach him was Alessandro Belemo, a Sampdoria midfielder, accompanied by his brother, Stefano.
The footballer was in his hometown spending time with his partner and newborn son. He was at his brother's house when he was startled by screams coming from the street and rushed outside to see what was happening. His intervention was crucial in saving the woman's life, who was entrusted to emergency care called by Belemo himself and several German-speaking residents of the building.

The holidays had given the midfielder a few days off to spend in his hometown of Chioggia with his partner and their son, Pietro, who was born at the end of April. The family was at the home of Alessandro's brother, Stefano, when the attack occurred.
Fortunately, they arrived in time to call for help and assist the stabbed tourist, preventing further damage.
" We accompanied her almost to my house ," Stefano Belemo told 'La Nuova Venezia', "asking for help, also with the help of some German-speaking residents of the building. At first she was conscious, then less and less. But she kept looking for her dog," he said.
Footballer Belemo was part of Como from 2019 - 2024 and captain of the team that is still coached by Cesc Fabregas in Serie A.
