The World Cup will not only offer excitement and spectacle on the field of play, but also a new visual element that is expected to attract the attention of fans around the world.

FIFA has decided to introduce special emblems that will be placed on the sleeves of selected players' shirts. These symbols aim to honor players who have left their mark on World Cup history or who have achieved important records during their careers.

Among the most famous names who will wear these emblems are Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Thibaut Courtois, each recognized for different achievements.

"Heritage" emblem for World Cup veterans

Argentina captain Lionel Messi will be taking part in the World Cup for the sixth time, a historic achievement that will earn him the “Legacy” badge, which is awarded to players who have played in at least five World Cups.

In addition to Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Luka Modric (Croatia), Manuel Neuer (Germany) and Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico) will also wear the same emblem.

Mbappe is honored for the "Golden Boot"

French striker Kylian Mbappe will wear a badge commemorating his outstanding performance at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. He won the tournament's Golden Boot after scoring eight goals in seven matches, becoming the competition's top scorer.

Rating also for the best goalkeepers

FIFA has also provided a special symbol for the winners of the "Golden Glove" award, which is given to the best goalkeepers at the World Cup.

This emblem will be worn by Manuel Neuer, winner in 2014, Thibaut Courtois for his performances in 2018 and Emiliano Martinez, who was named the best goalkeeper at "Qatar 20222".

"Debut" emblem for young stars

For footballers who will be participating in the World Cup for the first time, FIFA has created the “Debut” emblem. This symbol will identify players who are having their first experience on the biggest stage of international football.

From the French national team, Ryan Cherki and Michael Oliseh are among the players expected to wear this emblem at the 2026 World Cup.

With this innovation, FIFA aims to combine the history and tradition of the championship with the energy of the new generation, giving the World Cup a new symbolic and visual dimension.
