Rubin Kazan's main transfer window is coming to an end. Striker Mirlind Daku signed a new contract with the club on Sunday. An official announcement about the signing came on Sunday, making Mirlind one of the highest-paid players in the RPL.
According to “BUSINESS Online”, the new agreement will be valid until 2029 (the old one was valid until 2026). The Albanian player’s team insisted on an extension of the contract. By the end of it, Mirlindi will be 31 years old, which means that most of his professional career will have passed to Rubin. Also, according to information, the club offered a salary of 2.5 million euros net per year. The rest are bonuses.
This salary is a significant increase compared to the 700 thousand euros that Mirlindi earned before. At the same time, Zenit offered Mirlindi much better contractual terms. With all bonuses, in St. Petersburg, he would earn almost 4 million euros. This means that Daku has not “sweat” in vain. In two seasons, he has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists. Based on open sources, only two players will earn more than Daku in the Russian championship. John Cordoba from Krasnodar (4 million euros) and Vilmar Barrosh from Zenit (5 million euros). Both clubs are in constant competition for the championship. Cordoba is the team’s top scorer and Barrosh is Zenit’s vice-captain.
Negotiations – It can be said that the negotiations between Daku and Rubin were not simple. The parties communicated verbally with each other throughout the year. In the fall or winter, Mirlindi did not ask for the money, which was agreed in June. After the end of the season, having realized the real possibility of earning money against the background of negotiations with Zenit, Mirlindi’s demands increased significantly. As soon as the transfer to Zenit failed, negotiations with Rubin resumed. It was said that the agents manipulated the negotiations with Dinamo’s interest in Daku, but no one turned their backs on each other. The club “met” the player halfway, Daku extended his hand to Rubin.
Amount “X” – The parties also agreed on a special clause in the contract. The option for a possible sale. That is, a certain fixed amount (which is not known, but is thought to be 10 million euros), which the contender (buyer) will pay the club for Daku and have his receipt guaranteed. The important point is that this amount is set only for foreign clubs. If someone from the RPL wants to lure Daku, then it will be necessary to negotiate with Rubin.
The center of the project – However, Rubin secured itself from the departure of the striker for free and made Mirlind the center of its project. This is a strong move from Kazan, as they are determined to improve their results next season. Of course, for this, it is not enough to just extend the contract with Daku, who has retained the position of leader and top scorer. Rubin must move on to other objectives. This does not mean only signing new players, but also preserving the core of the team.
