A group of members of the Democratic Party in Durres have appeared at the party's headquarters, demanding a direct confrontation with Mayor Sali Berisha, following the expulsion of two municipal councilors, known to be supporters of Ervin Salianj.
Tensions within the local branch have increased, as expelled members consider the decision unfair and unsupported by evidence. In a statement to the media, one of them described the decision as contrary to party rules and demanded transparency from the leaders.
"I am here to ask for explanations for my dismissal. Every line of the decision is anti-statutory, I have asked for a confrontation with the leadership and I have asked for facts and evidence that led to the decision to dismiss me. We are here together and at the insistence of these democrats we ask if it is possible to have a confrontation with Mr. Berisha, as we have been burdened with the accusations. These are very serious accusations, for me and my colleague. Here we are and let's confront them, because we owe it to these democrats ," he said.
Meanwhile, when asked about the accusations of collaboration with the Socialist Party, the DP member categorically rejected these claims, describing them as untrue.
"We did not cooperate, it is a very big lie. The parking lot is private property and I am a member. It is very good that I am asked, because this thing has been circulating under the radar. I will provide you with the ownership certificate that I am the owner. If this is the reason, they have made a serious mistake," he declared.
The situation in the Durrës Democratic Party remains tense, while the demand for a direct confrontation with the central leadership is expected to determine further developments within the party.
We recall that, in the decision dated March 23 and signed by the party's Secretary General, Flamur Noka, it is stated that Dritan Burgija, who was also the head of the group of advisors in Durrës, as well as member Arlind Boshku, who also holds the position of secretary of the DP branch in Durrës, are excluded from the Council. Both will be members of the Council in Durrës, but no longer under the DP logo.
