The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has praised the European Political Community Summit, which took place in Tirana, describing it as a historic and symbolic moment for the Western Balkans region.
"It was raining heavily in Tirana – but it didn't dampen our morale at all!" von der Leyen wrote in a post on the social network X, thanking Prime Minister Edi Rama for his hospitality.
She emphasized that this was the first meeting of this kind to be held in the Western Balkans, and described it as a "powerful symbol" of the region's closeness to the European Union.
"Our European family of values extends beyond the borders of the European Union. We share a continent. And a common future," the EC president wrote.
