Yesterday evening, a 29-year-old man presented to the emergency room of Korça Hospital with injuries to several parts of his body.
According to information confirmed by the police, the young man is suspected of being raped about 13 days ago in the city of Kalkidhë, Greece, by Greek police officers.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that the 29-year-old, resident of Maliq, was detained by Greek authorities after being wrongly suspected of committing a criminal offense. After verifications were carried out, he was found innocent.
The young man, identified as Maldin Maxhari , filed a complaint with the Greek authorities regarding the alleged violence against him. He was subsequently deported from Greek territory and returned to Albania through the Kakavija border crossing.
Due to his health condition and the injuries he sustained, Maxhari has been admitted to Korça Hospital, where he is receiving the necessary medical treatment. According to sources, he is suspected of having suffered injuries to his ribs and spleen.
Meanwhile, police in the southeast have taken the 29-year-old's statements, while the procedure that will be followed remains to be determined, given that the incident occurred outside the territory of Albania.
