The police arrested a 30-year-old wanted man, suspected of involvement in a case of hostage-taking and violence against a young man in Vlora. Citizen RL, a resident of the village of Risili, was located during a joint operation of the investigative structures of the Vlora and Gjirokastër Local Police Directorates, with the support of the “Eagle” special forces. The operation was carried out within the framework of the codenamed “Strike 2” plan.
According to official data, the 30-year-old was stopped while driving on the Tepelena-Gjirokastra road. He was wanted by authorities for a serious incident that occurred in Vlora on May 21, 2026.
The investigation revealed that RL, along with citizens BH and LK, also known as LL, forcibly took a 20-year-old man. His two accomplices were previously arrested by police as part of the same investigation.
According to the investigation file, the suspected perpetrators forced the young man into a vehicle against his will and then transported him to an isolated location. There, they allegedly exerted physical violence against the 20-year-old in order to force him to hand over a sum of 6,000 euros.
Investigative actions have documented the role of the suspects in the events, while the arrest of RL was considered one of the main objectives of the operation, as he had managed to evade the police after the arrest of two accomplices.
After being detained in the Gjirokastra district, the 30-year-old was handed over to the services of the Vlora Local Police Directorate. Authorities are continuing legal procedures and investigative actions to fully document the circumstances of the incident and the responsibility of each of the persons involved.
