The Court of Appeal with General Jurisdiction, Tirana, has rejected Gjon Shkambi's request to be released from prison.
Arguing that he is not the perpetrator of the crime that shocked the country with the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja, as well as the injury of two other parties to the process, Shkambi appealed to the Court of Appeal against his arrest in prison ordered by the Court of First Instance.
Gjon Shkambi claims he was unaware of the actions of his nephew, Elvis Shkambi, who shot Judge Kalaja as soon as the latter read the decision against his request regarding a property dispute. As a result, the judge lost his life on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Elvis Shkambi, who is also in detention, had not appealed the decision to request a change in the security measure.
