"Fiscal Peace", Rama: Implementation begins in January, we didn't

Despite criticism from experts or internationals, Edi Rama appeared determined to apply "Fiscal Peace" from January 2026.

In a meeting with the business community, the Prime Minister stated that the package approved in the Assembly aims to guarantee a fairer fiscal framework for the European integration process. He spoke about reducing the profit tax.

The 'Fiscal Peace' is expected to erase billions of lek in debts that businesses have towards the state and that are considered old, prescribed debts.

" Fiscal Peace is a commitment we made during the electoral campaign. Today it is law despite the debates, which failed to address the essence of this initiative."

Today we are in a position where, starting in January, we can implement this initiative. It is an initiative to build a new bridge of trust and healthy interaction between the tax administration and entrepreneurship.

It is not our invention, it was born in ancient Rome and is an instrument used for thousands of years. It is an instrument that allows enterprises that are not in conflict with the law and that appear in the state registers as contributors, to review their fiscal statements.

It gives them the opportunity to correct themselves by redoing declarations from previous years, motivated by a much lower tax on profits than the one regularly paid.

For each corrected statement, the profit is taxed at only 5 percent ," he said.
