US President Donald Trump has commented again on the war in Ukraine, calling the conflict "complicated" due to the personal hatred between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
" It's a dirty war because we have two leaders who really hate each other, beyond anything else. They hate each other in a way that makes the situation even more difficult, " Trump said during a press conference after meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
In his usual provocative style, Trump added: “ I only have one war left to solve and I believe we will get it done .” However, he did not provide concrete details about any possible peace plan.
Asked if he thought Ukraine could win the war, Trump replied: " I don't think they will, but it could happen. I never said they would, but they could. War is a very strange thing, a lot of bad things happen ."
Trump hardened his stance on Russia after his summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska failed to lead to progress on peace.
However, last week, Trump and Putin spoke on the phone for the first time since that meeting - which led the US president to tone down his talk of giving Ukraine Tomahawk missiles.
He also reportedly shouted at Zelenskyy backstage at the White House on Friday while suggesting that Ukraine should accept Putin's demands for territory to end the war.
