Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the return of the slain hostages was a sacred mission as he read out the names of the 16 people who were killed and are still being held in Gaza.
He emphasized that the government is working intensively towards this goal and that it will not give up until it is achieved.
"We must return the killed hostages, all those who were killed," Netanyahu said.
He also said he discussed the issue before coming to the hearing, in meetings with his advisors, referring to names like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Netanyahu also denied reports that the final agreement between the parties could have been reached a year ago.
"At no stage, not six months ago, not a year ago, not a year and a half ago, was Hamas willing to accept the proposal we have reached now," he declared, emphasizing that the other side's agreement had only recently been reached.
The head of the Israeli government reiterated his commitment to military and political objectives: "We are determined to achieve all war objectives."
Netanyahu also stated that one of the main goals is to eliminate Hamas as a diplomatic and military actor.
