French President Emmanuel Macron, after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, told the media that Russia has shown no signs of ending its aggression.
Macron added that only Ukraine can decide on its territories when it comes to possible compromises in US-led peace talks.
He stressed that Europeans and Ukraine's allies must be around the negotiating table to provide security guarantees and that there must be more clarity on Russia's willingness to move forward after talks with Washington this week.
Meanwhile, Zelensky stated that security guarantees are a priority for Ukraine, as well as preserving sovereignty.
The Ukrainian president added that he hopes to speak with Donald Trump after Steve Witkoff's visit to Russia this week.
He also said that Russia should not receive any rewards for its war in Ukraine and insisted that Moscow's reported advances on the front line are exaggerated.
