Iran's negotiating team has decided to stop exchanging messages with the United States through intermediaries in response to the Israeli offensive in Lebanon, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.
According to the agency's sources, Iran considers the situation in Lebanon to be "essential" for any ceasefire agreement.
"This ceasefire has been violated on all fronts, including Lebanon. No dialogue will take place until a common view is reached between Iran and Hezbollah on this issue," the Tasnim report said.
Tehran demands an immediate halt to the Israeli offensive in Lebanon and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied areas. According to Iranian sources, without the fulfillment of these conditions, any attempt at mediation or indirect talks with Washington will remain suspended.
The decision comes at a time of high regional tension, with Israeli attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon intensifying the conflict and calling into question the possibility of a broader ceasefire in the Middle East.
