Last night, much of the country was hit by severe weather. Heavy rains and strong winds caused damage in several cities, after several days of high temperatures.
Saranda is the city most affected by last night's storm, as downed trees were reported overnight. The trees blocked roads and damaged several parked cars.
It is also learned that as a result of the storm, 3 people were injured by broken windows. They were taken to the hospital where they received the necessary medical assistance.
Vlora was also hit last night by intense rainfall, strong winds, and electrical discharges.
In the Kukës region, strong winds caused problems in the electricity distribution network, mainly in the Has Municipality. According to OSHEE Kukës, the village of Nikolić and the Fajzë Administrative Unit were left without electricity after an oak tree fell on a medium-voltage line, while in some areas transmission poles were also damaged.
Meteorologists had earlier warned that a powerful storm system would sweep across the Western Balkans. According to forecasts, the most at-risk areas were southern Croatia, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo, while Albania was included in the Level 1 risk, where heavy rainfall, strong winds, lightning and, in specific areas, hail were expected.
