Protesters block the entrance to the Parliament...
Protesters have caught MPs by surprise. On the 19th day of the anti-government protest, citizens moved their action to the Parliament.
As the plenary session where the criminal amnesty and changes to the Road Code were approved was coming to an end, the protesters decided to change the route, preventing MPs from leaving through the main exit. For this reason, they moved away from the alternative exits behind the Parliament.
The protesters made strong accusations against the government and the political class, while reiterating their demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Anti-government chants accompanied the entire march, turning the area around the Parliament into the center of the next protest. “Hand over the mandates” and “Mafia Parliament” were their chants.
Numerous protesters also surrounded the SP MP in the Vlora area, Ardit Bido, calling out: "You thief!"
They then left, marching towards the DP building, and then towards the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard with chants of "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison."
The civic movement, which initially began as opposition to the Zvërnec project, has taken on a completely political direction in recent days. The protesters' focus has now shifted from the initial cause to a demand for the removal of the government and a change in the political situation in the country.
The police apparently had planned such a move, as metal cordons and police forces were placed in front of the Parliament. However, there were no tensions or clashes, but only a clear message to the political caste.
