One of the participants in the protest that has been taking place for 52 days in front of the Prime Minister's Office said that the goal of the rally is not only the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, but also the change of the political class that, according to him, has led the country for the last 36 years.
He said he decided to join the protest due to dissatisfaction related to corruption, the state of the health and education systems, as well as property issues. According to him, many of the promises made by the government have not been fulfilled.
"We have been protesting for 52 days for Rama's removal, due to corruption, problems with education and healthcare. Free healthcare was promised, but we don't even have it for a penny. There is no free healthcare, it's a lie. I have worked all my life, I have paid taxes and I find no security," he said.
Speaking about the European integration process, the protester argued that Albania must meet the required standards before becoming part of the European Union.
"How can you go to Europe with these standards? Europe has its own standards. They don't even give you properties," he declared.
He also commented on Prime Minister Edi Rama's visit to Theth, interpreting it as an attempt to reduce tensions.
"Why did Rama go to Theth today? He went to ask for mercy, to be saved," he said.
At the end of his statement, the protester also directed criticism at the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, claiming that the protest has highlighted the responsibilities of both the majority and the opposition.
"This protest has caught both Berisha and Rama by surprise. Berisha is doing the biggest damage. If he opens his arms, Rama will leave immediately. I am protesting so that these politicians of 36 years disappear," the protester said.
