Bad weather has affected several areas of the country this Friday, where intense rainfall, strong winds and hail have caused problems in the Korça and Elbasan regions, while in the south, navigation of small vessels has been suspended due to high waves.
In the city of Korça, a tree has fallen onto a sidewalk due to strong winds, blocking pedestrian crossings and creating a danger for passersby. The intervention of municipal services is expected to remove it and normalize the situation.
The rainfall has been heavy throughout the Korça region, while hail has also been recorded for several minutes. So far, no other significant damage has been reported, but authorities are appealing to citizens to exercise caution when moving around.
The worsening weather had been warned earlier by the Military Meteorological Service, which announced that local rainfall was expected during the afternoon and afternoon, accompanied in some areas by short-term thunderstorms, lightning and hail, mainly in the north and east of the country.
Meanwhile, bad weather has also brought restrictions on navigation. The Port Captaincies of Vlora and Saranda have banned small vessels and fishing vessels from going out to sea until 06:00 on July 25.
The measure applies to vessels sailing outside the Gulf of Vlora, as well as in the Dhërmi-Himarë, Borsh and Ksamil areas, where strong winds and waves that could reach up to 3.5 meters are expected, according to forecasts.
