"A maneuver to hide deeper problems", Lala: Rama is diverting

Journalist Klodiana Lala spoke about the demolition of illegal buildings in Theth. She described it as an "artificial conflict" instigated by the prime minister to divert attention from other scandals.

Lala emphasized that the illegal buildings were constructed under the eyes of institutions and that it is clear that there was collaboration with local officials.

The journalist criticized the government for its delayed reaction and considered this action a maneuver to hide the country's deeper problems, as well as to divert attention from events such as the fire at the Elbasan landfill.

"I think it is an artificial conflict with the prosecutor, a conflict that the prime minister is exploiting on his part to vent the entire scandal that has occurred in Theth. It is an action, launched after the denunciation of a member of the Municipal Council in Shkodra, who published some photos of villas built in what is called the "heart of Theth", which has attracted thousands of tourists. Some villas are owned by a criminal in the area, wanted by the Special Prosecution for serious crimes, and this is Prekë Kodra. The illegal constructions were built under the noses of the institutions. Rama opened an artificial conflict, directly accusing the prosecutor of not having performed her duty. Elsa Gjeli is a new prosecutor in office, she has not even been working in the Shkodra Prosecution Office for 1 year.

For me, the Prime Minister used harsh language that violates the independence of the magistrate. Citizens should be made aware that construction cannot be carried out without a permit and that permission must be obtained from the authorities for every slab. But on the other hand, the residents of Theth did not build overnight. The government allowed construction without a permit before the elections. When the Prime Minister realized that the situation had gotten out of control and the owners were also criminals, he took action and started this artificial conflict with the prosecutor. Ms. Gjeli has put the KLP in motion and has demanded a reaction. Ulsi Manja, Minister of Justice, has requested criminal proceedings against Ms. Gjeli. The prosecutor is not the only one to blame here.

This is not only happening in Theth, in the south strategic investment has been made on stolen properties. The residents made a mistake by building without permission, but in the end they have thrown money at those "villas". They go to Theth with Molotov cocktails, with Kalashnikovs to scare the residents. The action at the peak of the tourist season brings a negative image of the country. Rama cannot come out and say that he is removing the unauthorized constructions, as if he has not been prime minister for 12 years.

Albania has other problems, and the fire at the Elbasan landfill was a serious event. To divert attention from the real scandals, an artificial conflict is created. I told you that I am not in favor of those who build without a permit, but these unauthorized constructions are not done without cooperation with local officials. The dismissals of the police officers were propaganda, because the local police directors went to work there, while the unauthorized constructions were there. It is a pity that an area that is a national cultural heritage has been destroyed. The real ones responsible are Proda, the prime minister who has been in power for 12 years and it seems that today construction is being done without a permit. Even in the middle of Tirana there are dozens of unauthorized constructions", Lala told "News 24".
