Over the weekend, there was an increased influx at the Kakavija customs exit counters as migrants returned to the Greek state. They spent their summer holidays in their homeland.
According to the Border Police in Kakavija, 9,527 citizens were processed at the entry-exit point, of which 3,841 were entering and 5,686 were leaving, as well as 3,107 vehicles were processed at the entry-exit point, of which 1,265 were entering and 1,842 were leaving. Part of the flow of movement at the border are also tourists from various countries.
The Border Police works with 3 counters at the entrance and 4 at the exit, while the Greek side has also accelerated procedures at the document control counters.
Throughout the summer, Kakavija customs faced a high influx of pedestrians and vehicles moving on both sides of the border with Greece.
