A day after the tragic accident in the Bay of Ksamil, where 22-year-old Albion Kreçi lost his life, the "jet car" type floating vehicle in which the young man was traveling at the time of the collision with the Saranda Border Police boat has been recovered from the sea.
The operation was carried out at noon this Tuesday by specialists from the Vlora Border Police Directorate, who, with the help of a crane, made it possible to extract the vehicle from a depth of about 34 meters, where it had ended up after the accident.
According to preliminary data, after colliding with the Border Police boat, the vessel was severely damaged, broke apart and then sank into the sea.
The serious incident occurred the day before in the waters of the Gulf of Ksamil. According to official information, the Saranda Border Police boat was stopped about 400 meters from the coastline, monitoring the maritime space, when the fatal collision occurred.
After being recovered from the sea, the "jet car" was transported to the impound lot in Ksamil, where it will be stored as material evidence for the investigation of the incident. Experts are expected to conduct technical verifications to accurately determine the circumstances of the accident and the respective responsibilities.
Meanwhile, following the tragic event, the Border Police has increased controls in the maritime space. Today, eight vessels were blocked, seven in Ksamil and one in Saranda, which were transported to the port of Saranda for further verification.
Investigations into the accident that took the life of the 22-year-old continue, while authorities are analyzing all evidence and testimony to uncover the full dynamics of the event.
