In a heartfelt post on social media, Darien Shqina, the son of former MP and analyst Grida Duma, shared a touching dedication in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the passing of his father, diplomat Ilir Shqina, and his grandmother.
"Today marks the 40th anniversary of the passing of my father and grandmother. The tradition symbolizes the peace of their souls and the reunion with other family members who have passed away. Now they are all together, protecting us and watching over us from a better place. May they be blessed!", writes Darien in his emotional message.
Ilir Shqina, who held important positions in the Albanian diplomatic service, passed away at a relatively young age, just a few days after the loss of his mother. A double blow to the family, which has deeply affected relatives and friends.
Ilir Shqina was married for 22 years to Grida Duma, one of the most prominent figures in Albanian public life. The couple divorced in 2022, a separation that attracted considerable media attention due to the high profile of both in the country's political and social life.
