Jakub Jankto has decided to retire from football unexpectedly. The 29-year-old announced his decision via social media, ending his time with Cagliari in Serie A.
Jankto was teammates with two national team players during his career. Qazim Laçi and most recently Alen Sherri. The decision to retire from playing football came after serious injuries and also the dedication he wants to have for his son in the Czech Republic.
" The reason is very simple. I have suffered many serious injuries throughout my career and have completely damaged the ligaments in my ankle with a third-degree tear. I tried to overcome it, to get through the pain throughout the year, but I am not able to continue and for this reason I have decided to retire from football."
The other main reason was my son. He wasn't able to spend much time with me. I wanted to change things. We only have one family and I wanted to be closer to Prague. That's why I decided to come back and dedicate myself to him. Thank you to everyone who supported me ," the Czech wrote.
