The voting process has begun today in the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kosovo for citizens registered abroad, within the framework of the elections for the Assembly of Kosovo.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), the voting process is organized in 30 voting centers located in Kosovo's diplomatic missions in 18 different countries around the world. Specifically, voting takes place in 17 embassies and 13 consulates.
Voting centers opened at 07:00 and will remain open until 19:00, enabling registered citizens to exercise their constitutional right.
The process has started first in Turkey, where voters have begun casting their ballots at the Kosovo Embassy in Ankara and the Consulate in Istanbul. Voting is then continuing in other countries where a large number of the Kosovo diaspora live, including Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Austria.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that 27,724 Kosovo citizens have registered to vote physically at diplomatic missions. Meanwhile, the postal voting process for more than 104,000 citizens registered abroad will also end today.
After the close of voting, all ballots collected at embassies, consulates and through the mail will be transported to Kosovo, where they will undergo the counting process.
On June 7, the citizens of Kosovo will head to the ballot boxes to elect the new composition of the Assembly and the country's next government.
