Democratic Party MP, Gent Strazimiri, declared from the Parliament's rostrum that the European Union is also against legal changes for protected areas, referring to the statements of Enlargement Commissioner, Marta Kos.
During his speech, Strazimir focused on the Zvërnec project, emphasizing that environmental protection is part of the criteria for membership in the European Union. According to him, the EU has requested the repeal of amendments adopted in 2024 on protected areas and strategic investments.
The Democratic MP said that this is not an opposition position, but a request from the European Union, referring to the statements of Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
At the end of his speech, Strazimir also had a retort with the chair of the session, clarifying that the explanation of the vote is made when an initiative is voted against and not when it is supported.
"For the Zvërnec project, environmental protection is part of the EU membership criteria and there are a number of laws that need to be changed. Before the protests started, we had agreed with the Albanian government to repeal the 2024 amendments for protected areas and strategic investments."
"It's not Berisha's quote, it's the quote from my friend Marta Kos who comes here and kisses Edi Rama on the cheek. This is a request from the EU and not just from the opposition. There is no explanation of vote when Niko is in favor, but when he is against," said Strazimiri.
