Jorida Tabaku, a DP MP, considers what she considered the exclusion of the opposition from the leadership of the Integration Commission as a step backwards.
The majority led by Edi Rama has proposed a merger of the two committees, the Foreign and Integration committees, into a single one, appointing former Foreign Minister Igli Hasani as chairman of the new committee.
In this way, the opposition, which in the previous legislature led the Integration Committee, has opposed the proposed changes.
In this context, Tabaku emphasized that this commission was comprehensive and was a request to the government, but, according to her, the government has failed to fulfill its obligations.
Tabaku added that excluding the opposition at this moment is an action that harms the advancement of integration.
"The Integration Commission was all-inclusive in the process and a request to the government.
"Unfortunately, the Albanian government has failed in this regard for a long time. I see the exclusion of the opposition at this moment as a step backwards," said Tabaku.
