EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, in a conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama in Brussels, said that Albania's progress on the European path is impressive.
Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Brussels, where the 6th intergovernmental conference with the European Union will take place and the next 4 chapters regarding the integration process will be opened.
“Albania’s speed is impressive. I have not yet completed a year in this position and this is the fourth time we have opened chapters. This brings us to 5 groups of chapters and 28 chapters opened. There is one more to go and I have no doubt that we will do this soon. Member States are committed to making progress when the criteria are met. If I were to use the term, it will be faster, higher and stronger and a team effort. There is a strong triangle that supports the enlargement process as a whole. This result is a result of the work of the Albanian authorities who have taken forward the reforms, and especially during this year. The reforms that are required of the candidates require fundamental changes. Your country is showing that it can be done. And that the EU rewards this positive change. Keep up this pace, making sure to involve the parliament, civil society… Especially for critical areas such as justice reform, judicial independence. The moment we open all of them, we will immediately start to close them as quickly and within 2027. The Green Agenda, the reforms it contains, help Albania's economic growth go hand in hand with the protection of Albania's natural wealth," said Kos.
