The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has asked party leaders for greater engagement on social networks, considering online communication as one of the main tools in the political confrontation with the government.
During the meeting of the College of Speakers, Berisha brought up the situation in Hungary as an example, referring, according to him, to the role that the opposition had in dominating social networks. Focusing on this experience, he called on the democrats to follow the same approach and to use digital platforms more intensively to oppose the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government.
In his speech, Berisha also gave a concrete message about the use of artificial intelligence tools. He asked DP representatives to download applications such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini on their phones, which, according to him, can help in opposing what he called the government's "fictions".
" We have our social networks as secure tools, no one can stop us there. Download all the AI, have them on your mobile phone. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. They have an accuracy that is increasing more and more ," said Berisha, admitting that these tools "sometimes have hallucinations", but describing them as an important aid in political communication.
He emphasized that the Democratic Party urgently needs, as he expressed it, a new dimension in confronting the majority, where the use of technology and social networks is more organized and present.
Berisha also addressed what he considered to be the low activity of some DP leaders on platforms such as Facebook. According to him, citizens and opposition supporters have expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of public reactions from some party representatives.
" Democrats tell me why DP leaders don't make such statuses on their Facebook ," he stated, underlining that the public expects more open and critical stances towards the government from Democratic Party officials.
Berisha further warned that the use of social media will be subject to control within the party. He said that engagement on these platforms should be mandatory for every political leader holding a position, linking this to the public responsibility of opposition functionaries.
" Now that we are open, the use of social networks will be controlled. You use them or you don't use them. It is an obligation for the one who leads and has a position. Otherwise, he should remain silent ," said Berisha.
According to him, the opposition is in a difficult political battle and must use every means it considers legitimate to communicate with citizens and oppose the government.
Essentially, Berisha's message was clear: Democratic Party leaders need to be more active, more visible, and more organized in the digital space, at a time when, according to him, online communication is becoming increasingly important in political conflict.
