I could write a book about this amazing Balkan tradition and the coexistence between Bosniaks who were once Albanians and today's Albanians in Kosovo, but I decided to photograph this miracle...
This photograph was taken a month ago in a village in Prizren where I went to see up close an ancient tradition of bride adornment.
For almost two hours, I watched in detail how a young journalist from Pristina was masterfully drawn by an elderly Bosnian woman, who did not know a single word of Albanian but only knew the language of brides, a primitive art that is not practiced on canvas but on the skin of young girls.
I could write a book about this amazing Balkan tradition as well as about the coexistence between Bosniaks who were once Albanians and today's Albanians in Kosovo, but I decided to photograph this miracle made by the hands of an elderly woman on the face of an Albanian girl, who did not get married that day but with great patience served as a model for me.
The photo was lucky and became part of my photography exhibition that will be open until the end of April at COD in Tirana.
I invite you all to see a naïve art in decline, which I hope will also have an impact on eradicating prejudices, a power that only art has.
