The Appeals Court of Kosovo will retry the criminal case against the much-requested justice Domart Konjari, with a different panel of judges.
It is learned that the High Court a day ago overturned the second instance decision, which sentenced Konjar to 15 years in prison in absentia.
Konjari was found guilty by final verdict on October 7, 2021, on a series of charges including "Creation, organization and management of a criminal organization"; "Laundering of proceeds of crime or criminal activity"; "Forgery of identity cards, passports, visas" and "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions."
According to the prosecution, Konjari is involved in the trafficking of cocaine and heroin from Latin America to Europe, mainly to France.
Konjari is suspected of running a cocaine trafficking network in several Central European countries, as it is believed to have direct links to the source in South America.
He is also the main accused in the execution of Devi Kasmi, with whom he had also collaborated in the field of narcotics.
