24 hours after the events that took place on June 8 on Casoni Basse Street, the Carabinieri of the Padova Investigative Unit are checking cameras in the area to collect useful elements to trace the identity of the person who shot Fatos Cenaj.
The 59-year-old Albanian, yesterday morning, June 8, at around 9:30, was shot twice in the head in Fontaniva on via Casoni Basse, a few hundred meters from where he lives with his family. A former prison guard, he is considered by all to be a quiet person, who has never had problems with the law, or disputes in the village.
In recent hours, the hypothesis of an involuntary shot fired from a rifle by a local resident with the intention of testing a new weapon has been dismissed.
The area where the incident took place on Sunday morning, June 8, shortly after eight o'clock in via Casoni Basse in Fontaniva is in the middle of the village. In fact, an ideal place to hit and run without being noticed. The hypothesis is being investigated that a car approached the 59-year-old from behind while he was riding his bicycle to go to work on a nearby farm, about two kilometers from his home.
From the window, a hitman may have shot him at close range until he fell to the ground. The wound at ear level is almost invisible. This would suggest the use of a sporting pistol.
What is hypothesized is that Fatos Cenaj during his career "stepped on the toes" of some high-profile criminal, who, years later, organized someone to take revenge on him. Now it remains to be seen whether the former guardian of the law will survive. His condition is still critical. He is in a reserved prognosis in danger of life.
