25-year-old Vehid Muric is suspected of killing three people in Podgorica and then going to his hometown, Rozhaja, where he showed up at the door of the family home.
"Mom, I have blood on my hands, I have killed three people... I'm sorry," the author is said to have said, reports "Vijesti" citing police officials.
According to the official Police announcement, Murić used a cold weapon after a conflict with the three victims, brothers Denis (28) and Nezrin Hoti (27) from Rozaje and Kosovo citizen Kenan Miraljemović.
Shortly after 8:00 PM last night, the Police announced that Murić had been arrested in the center of this municipality in the north of the country.
According to media in Kosovo, the four painters had fought over a debt.
The Police officially stated that the murder, in which a cold weapon was used, was preceded by "personal disagreements between the victims and the suspect." They emphasized that, according to their knowledge, this event is not related to the activity of criminal structures.
"It is assumed that this criminal act was preceded by personal disputes between the murdered persons and the suspect. All persons are originally from Rozaje. An examination is being carried out at the scene. According to preliminary information from the scene, the criminal act was most likely committed with the use of a cold weapon. The public will be informed in due course about the details of the measures and actions taken," the police announced yesterday, a few minutes before 2:00 p.m.
About half an hour later, this security institution declared itself again, sending photographs of the suspect Muriq to the media.
"Police officers, in coordination with the High State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, are taking urgent measures and actions to locate the person suspected of the triple murder in Podgorica - VM (25). All capacities available to the Police are engaged in his localization and arrest, and we also call on citizens to provide any information that may be important for finding him. If they have any information about this person, citizens are asked to report it to the nearest police station or by calling 122, and if they are in the same place or facility with this person, to be careful," the Police announcement states.
At around 8:30 PM, the Police announced that Murić had been arrested.
"After undertaking extensive operational activities and a tactical action carried out with precision, (the police) located in the narrowest urban area of Rozhaja, in an open space, VM (25) from Rozhaja, suspected of the criminal offense of aggravated murder, and deprived him of his liberty, about which the state prosecutor at the High State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has been notified," the announcement states, adding that the suspect will be sent with a criminal report to the High State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for further proceedings.
The prosecutor of the High State Prosecution Office in Podgorica, Danka Ivanovic Gjeric, told reporters after several hours of examination in Stari Aerodrom that all evidence and everything that is important for the further course of the investigation has been collected.
"The perpetrator of this criminal act is being sought. There is no information about the motives for the crime. At this moment it is suspected that the murder was committed with a cold weapon ," said Gjeric a few hours before the suspect was arrested.
"The police in the central area of the city of Rozhaja, in an open space, located VM, suspected of the criminal offense of aggravated murder, and deprived him of his liberty, of which the state prosecutor at the High State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was notified," the announcement states.
