This is Albanian fugitive Irfan Azizi, known as "Fania Beratit", a former associate of Talo Çela, who told the London Court that if he were extradited, his life would be in danger after a failed attempt to execute him by Talo Çela in November 2020.
Irfan Azizi also told the court that if extradited, this action would have a devastating impact on his wife and four children with whom he has sought asylum in the UK.
The court expressed surprise when Irfan Azizi stated that he had paid 5,000 euros to close this case, which served negatively in blocking extradition.
In the decision handed down by Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, Judge Annabel Pilling states:
"I do not consider that I can conclude that the impact on the family outweighs the obligations of the United Kingdom and the respect due to be shown for a lawful sentence and a lawful decision handed down by a court in another State. Weighing the overriding public interest in the United Kingdom respecting its obligations and the request made by Irfan Azizi, as well as the fact that he bribed a judge in the hope of closing the case, against the impact on his family and their family life, the balance clearly tips in favour of extradition."
The British judge, in point 73 of the decision, does not give weight to and did not accept Irfan Aziz's request that if he is extradited, he will be tried to be killed again.
“I have concluded that even if there was an attempt on Irfan Aziz’s life in November 2020, which may not have been fully investigated by the police in Albania, he has exaggerated the level of threat he faced then and faces now. I do not believe his statement that he feared for the safety of his partner and children. Not only have they been able to remain safe in Albania without him, but they have also been able to travel to the UK to join him without any threats being made. The claim that the police had told him to “leave” was a late addition to his account of what had happened, in an attempt to bolster the evidence of any threats he claims he faced in Albania.”
Judge Pilling states that she should overturn the objection of seeking Albanian justice and take the matter to the Secretary of State to sign it, where it should be emphasized that Azizi should enjoy the right to a retrial.
Irfan Azizi says the British judge has 14 days from the date of the decision to appeal.
But at the moment he cannot be extradited without receiving a response from the Home Office on his asylum request./ TCH
