An Albanian national has been arrested and charged in the United Kingdom for criminal offences related to the trafficking of migrants via small boat crossings in the English Channel, following an investigation conducted by the British National Crime Agency (NCA).
According to the NCA announcement, Vilson Halili, 40, was arrested by agency officers in Redhill, Surrey, on Thursday, June 25.
After questioning, the prosecution filed two charges against him for conspiracy to facilitate illegal immigration, in relation to crossings carried out during 2021 and 2022.
In addition, Halili is also accused of fraud, in relation to suspected forged identity documents that were identified during the operation, as well as criminal offenses related to money laundering.
According to the NCA, Halili is expected to appear before Guildford Magistrates' Court.
