A serious incident occurred in the early hours of this morning in Himara. It is learned that an employee of the Electricity Distribution Operator (OSHEE) lost his life while performing his duty.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 03:00, as technical teams were working to repair network defects and restore electricity supply to areas affected by bad weather and strong winds.
The victim is 55-year-old Bashkim Boçi from Elbasan, who was sent to Himara to support the teams on the ground. According to preliminary data, he was climbing an electric pole and was trying to reconnect a power cable when the safety belt that was holding him around his waist broke. As a result, the 55-year-old fell from a height of about 9 meters, suffering fatal injuries.
Police forces and an investigation team have arrived at the scene, and have begun actions to fully document the circumstances of the accident.
The event comes just a day after Himara and part of the coast were hit by strong storms and intense winds, which caused material damage and problems in the electricity distribution network.
