Wages in Albania continue to increase, led mainly by the public administration. According to the latest INSTAT data, during the second quarter of 2025 the average gross monthly salary for an employee reached 83,906 lekë, an increase of 11.7% compared to the same period a year earlier.
Compared to the first quarter of this year, the growth was around 2%.
The data show that public administration, social security, education, health and social work activities recorded the largest wage increase, with 16.9% within a year.
In contrast, financial and insurance activities recorded the smallest growth, only 5.3%.
In terms of professions, the highest paid remain managers, legislators, executive directors, and professionals with higher education.
Meanwhile, the armed forces and qualified specialists recorded the largest salary increases, 23.2% and 13.6% respectively, while among managers the increase was more moderate, around 8.8%.
Another important element is the reduction in the number of employees with minimum wage and the increase in those with medium and high wages.
According to INSTAT, the distribution of employees has become more balanced, reflecting a clear shift towards medium and high salary categories.
The average gross monthly salary includes not only the basic salary, but also allowances for managerial positions, seniority or special difficulties. This change shows that the public sector salary reform is also significantly affecting the overall labor market statistics. /skyweb.al
