French President Emmanuel Macron has said he is considering imposing restrictions on violent video games for minors, following the decision to ban the use of social media by teenagers under the age of 15 in France.
In an interview with French media, Macron stressed that it is necessary to adopt new regulatory measures related to video games, artificial intelligence and algorithms.
According to him, these measures aim to combat "information manipulation" and protect young people from harmful digital content.
The French president said that some video games contain elements of violence that could have a negative impact on children and adolescents. He said that concrete bans could be imposed if mental health experts and psychiatrists conclude that these measures are necessary for the well-being of minors.
In parallel, Macron also spoke about reforms in the education system. He spoke in favor of reducing school hours and increasing recess time for students, in order for them to engage more in sports and cultural activities.
