Former US general Mark Kimmitt has stated that the US is hoping that the opening of the strait will become an issue for the international community.
Kimmitt said that the Trump administration is trying to reach a deal with Iran to open the Strait without imposing conditions on the removal of tariffs, because this condition has been non-negotiable on Iran's part.
The general analyzes further, saying that once peace is achieved and the strait is opened, the tax problem will become international and other countries will enter into negotiations to discuss this tariff.
"I think the US view is that once the strait is opened again, this will become an issue of the international community, not just the US. Once there is a peace understanding between Iran and the US, then I think the world should have a conversation with Iran if that is acceptable ," he told SkyNews.
